City of Alden issued the following announcement on Feb. 25.
The Alden Cemetery Fund needs your help. Cost of maintenance for our Alden Cemetery including mowing, tree trimming, upkeep of headstones, and planting trees, is a concern for our community. These funds need major replenishing, to keep our cemetery looking nice. Will you help? Bring your rakes, gloves, pails and brushes. If you are unable to help with the cleaning, perhaps you would consider bringing rolls, cookies, bars, or coffee for the workers? Weather will play a big part in deciding the date of the cemetery cleanup. We will alert the community as soon as a date is set. The community can help with this cleanup, by sharing this information. The Alden Area Community Foundation grant program is stepping up to make this event even better. The AACF is matching dollar to dollar, up to a grand total $2,500, to be given to the Alden Cemetery Fund. To donate money eligible for the match, please drop off at the Alden City Office, 174 Water St. Mail donations to: PO Box 325, marked “Alden Cemetery” by May 31, 2020. Those attending the annual Memorial Day program & luncheon, watch for our table and donation box. Thank you for your support!
