City of Arlington issued the following announcement on April 2
As part of their COVID-19 Response Supplemental Budget proposal, Gov. Tim Walz and Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan proposed $30 million in funding for emergency grants for licensed child care providers that are caring for children of workers in critical sectors.
There are approximately 420,000 children under the age of 12 who’s guardians are a worker in a critical sector. The state estimates that about 120,000 of those children are likely to need and use licensed child care. Child care providers play a key role in enabling emergency and essential personnel to go to work.
To help ease the burden of the financial strain that the child care industry has been experiencing, the State passed a proposal to provide emergency funds on March 28.
The Department of Human Services, Governor’s Children’s Cabinet, and Child Care Aware of Minnesota are working together to distribute these funds. Follow the link to learn more.
