City of Alden issued the following announcement on April 24.
The Alden Cemetery Funds always needs your help. Cost of care for our ever growing Alden Cemetery for maintenance which includes mowing, tree trimming, upkeep to headstones, planting trees is a concern for the community. These funds need some major replenishing to keep our cemetery looking good. Will you help? Make checks payable to Alden Cemetery Fund. Either mail to P.O. Box 325 or drop at the City Office, 174 Water Street, Alden. The Alden Area Community Foundation is doing a dollar to dollar match up to the grand total of $2,500 on any donation to the Alden Cemetery Fund made between now and May 31, 2020. What a great way to increase your donation dollars!
Then this spring bring your rakes, gloves, pails, brushes to the cemetery to assist in clean up efforts. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic there will not be a day to clean but you are free to pick a day that works for you, the weather cooperates and head on out to the cemetery to clean. Pile branches and debris along side the driveway and let the City of Alden office know there is a pickup needed at the cemetery or if able the compost items can be delivered to the city site just south of the railroad tracks.
