CITY OF MAPLETON: City of Mapleton COVID-19 Update- May 15, 2020- Updates in Red

City Of Mapleton recently issued the following announcement.

City Hall

  • City Hall will open with normal hours starting on Monday, May 18, 2020.
o   The hallway is small so please practice social distancing by limiting 1 person inside at a time.  Others should wait outside or in your vehicle. 

o   Hand sanitizer will be available inside the door. 

o   If possible, we still ask residents to take care of city business via phone, email or paying utilities online if at all possible. 

o   We ask if you have or had in the past 3 days a fever, cough, sore throat or any flu-like symptoms to please stay home. 

  • Community Center-
o   City staff are working on plans to open the center for use on or about June 1, 2020.

  • There will likely be restrictions in place.  Watch for updates. 
Public Works

  • Splashpad is still on schedule to open June 1, 2020. 
o   Please watch for updates as there may be some restrictions. 

Police

  • Starting on May 18, Officers will start responding to some non-life threatening medical calls when COVID-19 is not suspected.  Officers on duty will determine this on a case by case basis.
Municipal Liquor Store

  • Municipal staff is working on plans to possibly be able to open on June 1, 2020.  This is subject to change depending on Executive Orders and/or requirements set by the State of Minnesota.   
 

 

Below is all current information for the City of Mapleton related to COVID-19

All city staff continue to take precautions such as good hand washing, sanitizing, cleaning and social distancing in an effort to keep staff healthy to continue service to the residents of Mapleton. 

City Hall/City Council/Community Center

  • City Hall will open with normal hours starting Monday, May 18, 2020.
    • The hallway is small so please practice social distancing by limiting 1 person inside at a time.  Others should wait outside or in your vehicle. 
    • Hand sanitizer will be available inside the door. 
    • If possible, we still ask residents to take care of city business via phone, email or paying utilities online if at all possible. 
    • We ask if you have or had in the past 3 days a fever, cough, sore throat or any flu-like symptoms to please stay home. 
  • Starting May 5, 2020, Mapleton City Council meetings will resume to normal operation at the Mapleton Fire Department meeting room/council chambers.
  • City Utility Payments can be dropped off in the payment box, mailed or paid online.

  • Census 2020-  During this the time of the Executive order to stay home, it would be a good time to complete the Census 2020 questionnaire. 
    • We are currently about 72.5% reporting.  Please take the time complete the 2020 census. 
    • It is very important to our community and state that everyone gets counted.  Invitations to respond to the census or paper forms have been mailed out.  If you have a P.O. Box you will NOT receive an invite/form in the mail.  Please go to https://my2020census.gov/ to complete the questionnaire.  It should take 10 minutes or less to complete.  It’s safe, secure, and confidential.  Your information and privacy are protected.  If you have questions about filling out the questionnaire, go to https://2020census.gov/en/ways-to-respond.html  for more information or for directions on how to respond via phone. 
Public Works

  • Heritage Park bathrooms will open Friday May 1, at 3 p.m.
    • Public Works will sanitize/clean the bathrooms 1 time each day.
      • They will follow CDC guidelines for cleaning.   
  • City parks: 
    • Playgrounds will be OPEN immediately.
      • Park equipment is NOT being cleaned or sanitized.
      • Please wash your hands after using the equipment.
      • Continue to Social Distance from non-household members.  
    • Residents are encouraged to use the walking path.
      • Please practice social distancing while on the walking path.
    • We are going to allow use of the baseball/softball fields and the tennis/basketball courts for family groups who live in the same household.    
  • Splashpad is still on schedule to open June 1, 2020. 
    • Please watch for updates as there may be some restrictions. 
 

Fire

  • We continue service to the community as normal however precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 are being taken. 
  • If you suspect you have COVID-19, if possible please contact your doctor prior to calling for Emergency Services.

      • Please contact your local health care provider first. Your provider or a nurse will direct you to our dedicated COVID-19 Nurse Line. If you meet testing criteria, you will be directed to one of our local testing sites.
  • We are using universal precautions.
    • What does this mean?
      • Fire Personnel will assume any patient is infected with COVID-19 until we have completed the initial assessment.
        • You may see Fire Personnel enter a home in full protective gear.
          • That does not mean that patient has C-19.  
  • We will also be responding to all medical calls with two apparatus. Do not be alarmed, these are only precautions to help keep everyone safe. 
Police

  • We continue service to the community as normal however precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 are being taken. 
  • If/when possible officers will attempt to conduct business via phone/email verses in person. 
  • Starting on May 18, Officers will start responding to some non-life threatening medical calls when COVID-19 is not suspected.  Officers on duty will determine this on a case by case basis
    • Mapleton Fire Department will continue service to all medical calls. 
    • Does your Driver’s License expire during the peacetime emergency? 
      • Recent legislation directs the Department of Public Safety Driver and Vehicle Services (DPS-DVS) division to extend the expiration date for any valid driver’s license, instruction permit, operator’s permit, limited license, farm work license, identification card, and disability certificate that expires during the peacetime emergency. The expiration dates for these licenses will be extended for two months after the month the peacetime emergency ends.

Municipal Liquor

  • Municipal staff is working on plans to possibly be able to open on June 1, 2020.  This is subject to change depending on Executive Orders and/or requirements set by the State of Minnesota.   
  • On-Sale is CLOSED until further notice.
  • Off-Sale temporary hours  effective today hours will change to: Monday – Saturday 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Closed on Sunday. 
    • We ask if you have a fever, cough, sore throat or any flu-like symptoms to please stay home. 
    • These hours may change, watch for updates. 
  • No food will be cooked for pick up however you may purchase an uncooked pizza while supplies last. 
  • The Muni is using this time as an opportunity to take care of some building maintenance.
