City of Albert Lea issued the following announcement on June 12.
The Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce and Albert Lea Convention and Visitor’s Bureau are working together to present “Flair for the Fourth!” This unique event is, in effect, a reverse parade. We’re asking homeowners and businesses alike to decorate their properties in celebration of Independence Day for one full week, from June 29th through July 5th. Then, community members will be able to drive around town and enjoy all of the decorations. Participants can feel free to use virtually any decorations they already own (we know decorations can be expensive). We’re asking that you work to give it a “patriotic flair.” We would love to see every property in the city decorated!!! Please share your decorated homes & businesses by using the hashtag #FlareForTheFourthAL on social media!
For our Albert Lea business owners, there’s an added bonus! Businesses can sign up to have their decorations “judged” by a team of two designated judges, and the best and most creative decorations in each ward of the city will be awarded a prize!
If you’d like to support this celebration of our freedom and independence by entering your business into the “Flair for the Fourth” competition, you can sign up at our website, albertlea.org . Just click the link, fill out the form, and we will add your business to a map of the reverse parade route, made available to those who want to drive around and enjoy the decorations!
