More than 20,157 Minnesotans filed for unemployment last month. | Pixabay
The U.S. Department of Labor's numbers as of late June, show Minnesota had more than 20,157 new unemployment claims.
The Department of Labor's data showed the state added 20,157 new claims as of June 27 which is a decrease from the previous week when new claims were at 20,487, according to a July 2 article on The Center Square. The total number of unemployment claims statewide was 356,775 which is 5,003 more than the previous week.
States that saw the highest unemployment, according to the article were California at 2.9 million, Florida at 1.05 million, Illinois at 676,328, New York at 1.6 million, Pennsylvania at 814,330 and Texas at 1.3 million.
The Department of Labor data also showed U.S. new unemployment claims dropped by 55,000 from the prior week and were at 1,427,000, according to the article with unemployment claims nationally just under 18 million.
