Update from Superintendent Fletcher
Greetings Students and Families of BEA!
Like many of you, I was anxiously awaiting Governor Walz’s announcement today on how schools will reopen this fall. I am grateful this day has arrived, yet there is still much planning and preparation to do.
To summarize the Governor’s announcement, school districts across the state will be using a scientific model to guide their operations this year. This model is based on a county rate of COVID cases per 10,000 people over a 14 day period. We are still several weeks away from the start of school, so we will be monitoring this data daily to stay current with Faribault County’s case numbers. As of today, our case numbers over the last 14 days are promising as it pertains to BEA and reopening.
District personnel have been working very hard this summer to prepare for all three scenarios. We have prepared plans that emphasize the safety of our students and staff, as well as deliver high quality instruction for all. In the coming days and weeks, the BEA School Board will approve this plan and we will post it on our website. Following this, we will also be offering a virtual, live Q&A session with me to review the plans and answer any questions. We will also record this event to view at a later time.
In closing, let me share with you how grateful we are for your support and understanding during this time. Our planning teams have felt this support and it has motivated us to prepare the best possible learning environment for your students despite being in the midst of a global pandemic.
