Rep. Jeremy Munson has joined a bipartisan effort to fix the legislation process of multi-subject bills, a process he calls corrupt.
"We have a Constitutional Requirement for single subject bills," Munson said in a Facebook post. "Yet, each year the Minnesota legislature continues to violate their constitutional oath by creating multi-subject, omnibus policy and spending bills. This is how government continues to grow and give handouts to special interests and feed the lobbyists in St Paul. I am proud to join with 21 other legislators on both sides of the aisle to author a constitutional amendment to fix this corrupted legislative process."
Munson asks for signatures on his petition, which supports the legislation against multi-subject bills.
If this bill passes into law, it will help bring more transparency and accountability into Minnesota's state government, according to the Facebook post.
"I am asking for your vote in the Aug. 11 primary so I can continue to champion reforms like this," he wrote on Facebook. "If you don't live in my district, ask your legislator to support single subject bills and to stop these unconstitutional bills in committee."
