City Of Arlington issued the following announcement on Oct. 31.
Here's the rest of the story of this morning's outage affecting the Cleary Lake Substation - and a precaution of what to do if your vehicle comes in contact with electrical equipment. Stay in your vehicle. Downed power lines energize the things they come in contact with, including poles, vehicles and people. You can't tell just by looking at a line to know if it is energized. In this case, the driver hit the pole and left -- we don't know if they got out to inspect damage or not. If so, they are lucky. The impact snapped a guy wire, which flew up into the transmission line, putting 3,800 households and businesses out of power. So please, stay in your car, call 911 and wait for us to handle it properly.
