Essential Job Duties:

•Performs weekly generator check and testing at pump house.

• Shuts off delinquent water meters, as directed by personnel committee.

• Maintains office files and records for Streets, Park, and Zoning Departments.

• Files hours worked (regular, overtime, paid vacation, and used sick days) with City Clerk/Treasurer as required.

• Documents monthly monitoring, including meter reading and inventory, of gas and diesel tanks.

• Maintains light poles, including hanging and removing holiday and/or city decorations.

• Place flags in specified locations for specific holidays, as directed.

• Prepares for seasonal projects and equipment needs prior to the use and need.

• Prepares weekly, monthly and annual work plans. Provides written report of activities prior to City Council meetings.

• Conducts future planning for City equipment and tools, which includes annual inventories that indicate purchasing needs.

• Contracts snow removal personnel when needed with proper notification of Personnel Committee.

• Contracts for additional staff on a per day basis with prior approval of Personnel Committee.

• Supervises temporary and part-time employees in Street and Park Departments.

• Submit invoices to City Clerk/Treasurer for City Council approval, as required.

• Attends regular and special City Council and Planning Commission meetings, workshops and seminars to provide technical advice and reports.

• Attends safety training, as required.

• Maintains all City streets, including operating street sweeper, snowblower, snowplow, spreading sand, blading gravel roads, hand patching, painting curbs yellow in no parking zones and cleaning the gutters and catch basins.

• Replaces damaged road signs and erects new signs as needed.

• Oversees repair or new construction of streets, water system, sewer system, storm sewer system, parks and other City property.

• Hauls and spreads crushed rock in alleys and streets.

• Coordinates the repair of water line breaks. Maintains City water, sewer, and storm sewer systems.

• Installs and repairs water meters. Records information.

• Maintains City vehicles, buying parts for repairs, performing necessary repairs and keeping appropriate records.

• Acts as Zoning Administrator and issues, reviews and submits to City Council, all zoning and conditional use permits.

• Contacts utility companies when any digging is to take place, in order that lines may be located. Locates City services as requested by Gopher One.

• Answers questions for the public, and responds to complaints and requests.

• Maintain and update City maps to include water shut offs, storm sewers and other information locating City infrastructure.

• Serves as general maintenance person to make necessary repairs on all City facilities and keeps City Hall neat, clean, and orderly, including light carpentry and plumbing.

• Following proper legal notice to property owners, mows grass and weeds on property that is not maintained properly.

• Mows, trims, inspects, and maintains parks and water/wastewater facilities; trims trees, sprays for weeds, picks up brush and other debris, dumps trash, unplugs toilets, stores and sets up picnic tables, turns water on and off during season changes, and maintains playground equipment.

• Performs readings of water/wastewater facilities in absence of Water/Wastewater Worker.

• Complies with appropriate local, state, and federal safety rules, regulations and statutes.

• Reports or repairs unsafe locations or equipment.

• Attendance during regularly scheduled work hours and outside hours as necessary.

• Performs related duties as assigned or apparent.
