City Of Winthrop issued the following announcement on Jul 15.
City ownership of the library has created a need for a new library board in the City of Winthrop. City Council is seeking individuals to fill 7-seats on the new City Library Board. The Board will be charged with reviewing plans submitted by the library director, proposing new programs, budget and financial oversight, and other duties as assigned by City Council. Mayor Kelly Pierson will be appointing members to a City Library Board, as required by MN Statute 134.09.
The Council is looking for seven citizens that have a love for books, an interest in children and adult programming, and a passion for libraries. We would like to have representation on the board to reflect the many library users in our community. The ask is that board members are 15 years of age or older (YES! Youth are welcome), live in Winthrop or one of the surrounding townships (Alfsborg, Cornish Transit, Bismarck), and have at least 1 hour per month to dedicate to a board meeting.
To nominate yourself for the library board please include the following in a letter:
• Your Name
• Phone Number
• Physical Address
• Your interest and involvement with libraries.
