Albert Lea Public School District students performance on MCA and MTAS in 2021-22 school year?

Albert Lea Public School District ranked first in the Freeborn County for test participation, with 1,484 students taking the Reading portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Albert Lea Public School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year rose by 10.2% over the previous year.

Albert Lea Public School District's students achieved an average Reading proficiency rate of 41% in 2021-22 school year.

10th-grade students stood out with 15% of them exceeding standards in Reading, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, eighth grade students had the most room for improvement, with 53% not meeting the expected standards.

Albert Lea Public School District encompasses schools within Freeborn County and has a main office in Albert Lea.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
