Were students of Waseca Public School District able to meet MCA and MTAS Reading testing expectations in 2021-22 school year?

Waseca Public School District ranked first in the Waseca County for test participation, with 840 students taking the Reading portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Waseca Public School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year fell by 4.3% from the previous year.

Waseca Public School District's students achieved an average Reading proficiency rate of 44% in 2021-22 school year.

10th-grade students stood out with 19% of them exceeding standards in Reading, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, fourth grade students had the most room for improvement, with 41% not meeting the expected standards.

Waseca Public School District encompasses schools within Waseca County and has a main office in Waseca.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
