Were students of Nicollet Public School District able to meet MCA and MTAS Reading testing expectations in 2021-22 school year?

Nicollet Public School District ranked second in the Nicollet County for test participation, with 172 students taking the Reading portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Nicollet Public School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year rose by 19.4% over the previous year.

Nicollet Public School District's students achieved an average Reading proficiency rate of 51% in 2021-22 school year.

Fourth grade students stood out with 18% of them exceeding standards in Reading, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, seventh grade students had the most room for improvement, with 47% not meeting the expected standards.

Nicollet Public School District encompasses schools within Nicollet County and has a main office in Nicollet.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
