MCA and MTAS: How many St. Peter Public School District students took their Reading tests in 2021-22 school year?

St. Peter Public School District ranked first in the Nicollet County for test participation, with 1,034 students taking the Reading portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of St. Peter Public School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year fell by 1.2% from the previous year.

St. Peter Public School District's students achieved an average Reading proficiency rate of 51% in 2021-22 school year.

Fourth grade students stood out with 19% of them exceeding standards in Reading, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, sixth grade students had the most room for improvement, with 34% not meeting the expected standards.

St. Peter Public School District encompasses schools within Nicollet County and has a main office in Saint Peter.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
