Comfrey Public School District: MCA and MTAS Reading results for 2021-22 school year

Comfrey Public School District ranked fourth in the Brown County for test participation, with 61 students taking the Reading portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Comfrey Public School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year fell by 7.6% from the previous year.

Comfrey Public School District's students achieved an average Reading proficiency rate of 44% in 2021-22 school year.

Fifth grade students stood out with 17% of them exceeding standards in Reading, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, eighth grade students had the most room for improvement, with 36% not meeting the expected standards.

Comfrey Public School District encompasses schools within Brown County and has a main office in Comfrey.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
