3,512 students enrolled in Brown County schools in 2024-25 school year

There were 3,512 students enrolled in Brown County schools in the 2024-25 school year, 0.5% more than the previous year, according to reports from the Minnesota Department of Education.

In terms of gender distribution, the student body in Brown County comprised 53.1% boys, with girls representing the remaining 46.9%.

Data also showed that white students made up 83.2% of the student body, the largest percentage in Brown County schools, followed by Hispanic students with 13.2%, 1.8% multiracial students, 0.7% American Indian students, 0.6% Asian students, 0.4% Black students and less than 0.1% Other Indigenous Peoples students.

New Ulm High School had the highest enrollment among Brown County's 12 schools in the 2024-25 school year, welcoming 687 students.

With more than 870,000 students enrolled, Minnesota's public school system is the 10th-largest in the United States. As of 2025 the student-to-teacher ratio in the state’s public schools is 15 to 1, on par with the national average.
