Representative Erica Schwartz (R-Nicollet) issued a statement condemning the disruption that occurred during the first meeting of the Public Safety Finance and Policy Committee this session. The incident involved strong profanity and the use of a bullhorn during a Republican-led House committee hearing.
Schwartz, who serves on the committee, highlighted her commitment to maintaining order in legislative proceedings. “As a member of the Public Safety Finance and Policy Committee, I understand the weight of our responsibilities. Disruptions like these distract from the important work we are here to accomplish, such as addressing the needs of our students, educators, and public safety officials. I have been working tirelessly to review Jeff Brand’s previous bills to identify areas where improvements can be made to better serve the constituents of District 18A. By focusing on thoughtful, effective legislation, we can ensure the needs of our communities are met and that Minnesota continues to thrive,” Schwartz said.
The Minnesota House GOP caucus has urged Democratic leaders to address what they described as unacceptable behavior from their members and supporters.
