Erica Schwartz has begun her first term as a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, representing District 18A. Schwartz was officially sworn in on January 14 and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve.

Schwartz will serve as the Republican Vice Chair of the Higher Education Finance and Policy Committee. She will also be a member of the Public Safety Finance and Policy Committee and the Taxes Committee. In her statement, she emphasized the importance of these committees for both her district and the state.

Schwartz outlined her legislative priorities, which include expanding educational opportunities, reducing financial burdens on families through tax relief, and supporting local law enforcement with necessary resources.

Addressing recent events at the Capitol, Schwartz criticized DFL House members for holding what she described as a "secret, illegitimate swearing-in ceremony." She stated that this action undermined the formal oath process and was disrespectful to voters. She also accused some members of neglecting their legislative duties while continuing to receive taxpayer-funded compensation.

"But let me be clear: I did not stand alone in this moment. Standing alongside 66 of my fellow Republican colleagues, I took my oath with a promise to the people of Minnesota. We swore to show up every single day, to work tirelessly, and to never lose sight of the future we are building for this state. We promise to be the advocates, the fighters, and the leaders that Minnesota deserves," Schwartz said.

She invited constituents to contact her office with questions or concerns about legislative issues.
