Minnesota State Representative Erica Schwartz has provided an update on her recent activities in the community and at the Capitol. Schwartz, who owns a gas station in Nicollet, emphasized that her daily interactions with residents inform her legislative work.

Last week, Schwartz attended a legislative breakfast hosted by the Minnesota Social Service Association. She discussed key issues facing social service workers and highlighted priorities for the next legislative session. "During our discussion, I highlighted the need for targeted funding to improve the Social Services Information System (SSIS), which plays a vital role in supporting frontline workers. I also emphasized the growing need for investments in mental health services—because expanding access to social service centers across Minnesota isn’t just a good idea—it’s a must. I’m committed to making sure these essential resources are prioritized," she said.

Schwartz also participated in celebrations marking 40 years of service by the Saint Peter Area Food Shelf, which was recently recognized as a Super Shelf for its expanded offerings and community impact. "The open house was filled with warmth. From the Chamber Diplomats’ ribbon cutting to the hallway exhibit sharing photos and stories from the past four decades, it was a powerful reminder of just how much this community has given—and continues to give. Volunteers, past and present, were honored for their tireless work. There were smiles, a few happy tears, and a strong sense of pride in what’s been built together," Schwartz stated.

She thanked all those who have supported the food shelf over its history: "To everyone who has played a role in supporting the St. Peter Food Shelf over the years: thank you! Your heart for service has made a lasting difference. Here's to 40 years of showing up for one another—and to many more ahead!"

In addition to official duties, Schwartz joined local families at Ribs R Rockin’ Rib Fest organized by the Nicollet Chamber of Commerce and attended the annual meeting of the Nicollet County Farm Bureau. She praised area farmers and reaffirmed her support for agricultural policies: "It was an honor to get up there and share how, this session, we’ve rolled up our sleeves and worked hand-in-hand to show up for our Ag community. Whether it’s fighting for fair policies, protecting our farmland, or pushing for resources that help our farmers succeed, I’m proud of the progress we’re making together."

Schwartz closed her update by encouraging constituents to stay engaged: "Please don’t ever hesitate to reach out. Whether it’s an email, a phone call, or just stopping to chat if you see me out and about in the district, I’m always happy to listen! Your voice matters, and I’m here to represent you."
