City of Blue Earth issued the following announcement on Oct. 14.
Holtmeier Construction has now completed the installation of all underground utilities throughout the project. Holtmeier’s grading crew has continued to work on restoring 3rd Street and Sailor Street but the weather has made this task difficult. As of now, it appears that we will get a week of dry weather. Holtmeier will take advantage of this dry weather and plans to finish installing gravel on 3rd Street and Sailor Street. In addition, the crew will work on getting 2nd Street restored by the end of the week. Concrete curb and driveway improvements are tentatively planned to begin the week of October 21st and will last a few weeks. Once curb and gutter is complete and has cured for a few days, the crew will finish tolerancing the street in preparation for paving. Paving will follow as soon as conditions allow and the paving crew is available. In addition to paving, Holtmeier’s crew will grade boulevards to prepare for sod placement. Sod and tree installation will be completed towards the end. Due to the time of year, sod will be installed in a dormant state. It should be noted that ongoing watering of the dormant sod in late fall is typically not necessary.
