Cost of college went up for all students at South Central College

Tuition and fees rose 1.4 percent for 2018-19 at South Central College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Minnesota students paid $5,491 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $74 more than the $5,417 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 82 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 281 students received grants or scholarships totaling $1.3 million and 146 students took out student loans totaling more than $687,365.

Including all undergraduates (2,746), 1,905 students used grants or scholarships totaling $7 million, and 1,088 students took out $6 million in federal student loans.
