PRAYER

The Chaplain, the Reverend Margaret Grun Kibben, offered the following prayer:

Holy and eternal God, we pause today, united in our grief at the loss of Congressman Jim Hagedorn, Representative of Minnesota's First District.

Those whom he served and we who have known him have been graced by a gracious man. Through his love of country and of Minnesota, You have inspired us by this public servant who grasped confidently and courageously his life's dream to serve others while serving You.

We ask that You give comfort to his wife, Jennifer Carnahan, as she endures a broken heart and a shattered spirit. May she know that You hold her firmly in Your tender embrace in these days of sadness.

Bless those who served with him. May they be sustained by the faith that Representative Hagedorn claimed as the source of his strength throughout his life and in his recent battle with cancer.

May Representative Hagedorn's legacy of service to this country, his heartfelt dedication to the ideals he held strongly, and his faithfulness to You serve as an inspiration to each of us. And may his memory be a blessing to all.

We offer this prayer upheld in Your most holy name.

Amen.
